  1. Dark Saga by Iced Earth ·
An excellent followup to Burnt Offerings, this album tells the detailed tale of the Spawn comic book character. The lyric and music writing is very impressive for such an odd topic. Jon Schaffer's great riffs and melodic solos come out well on t...(more)

  2. The Best Of Joe Satriani by Dale Turner ·
This book comes with a play along cd with different speeds of each song, which is very helpful to learn some of his shred techniques. I was disappointed that none of the songs are full versions, but mainly the solos or more advanced parts of his...(more)

  3. Shred Guitar by Paul Hanson ·
This book will definitely test your speed and shred skills. The first few lessons are fairly simple, but then it dives into hypermode with blazing tempos, insane arpeggios and more. It is not for beginners, but it certainly will help you improve...(more)

  4. Strange Beautiful Music by Joe Satriani ·
This album is Joe's most diverse yet, I believe. He acheives stunning tones/effects on each song that have never been on any of his albums before. Unfortunately, the shredding has decreased quite a lot on this release. Joe makes up for it with i...(more)

  5. Ibanez GSA60 ·
I looked at several other Ibanez, Gibson, Epiphone and ESP guitars, but this one caught my eye. I've always liked the S-series, and this is an introductory guitar with a good price.

  7. Under Lock And Key by Dokken ·
A great cd for any classic rock/metal collection. George Lynch cranks out blazing guitar solos and rockin' riffs on this piece of rock & metal history.

  8. Long Live The King by Narnia ·
This cd has some of the best rock songs/riffs I've heard, great wide-ranged vocals, fantastic drumming and the masterpiece is complete with Carljohan Grimmark's blazing solos. Narnia is a Christian band, but their music is definitely the top pow...(more)

  9. Alive In An Ultra World by Steve Vai ·
This is what I would say is Steve Vai's greatest album. Every song is genius and written incredibly well. Highlights of this album are "Incantation", "Being with You", "The Black Forest", and "Iberian Jewel".

  10. Storm Of The Light's Bane by Dissection ·
This album blew me away so much that I got their other albums too. Dissection creates some of the best riffs and songs of any death metal band. The highlights of this cd are "Where Dead Angels Lie", "Soulreaper", "Thorns of Crimson Death" and "R...(more)

  11. GuitarWorld Website ·
I love the magazine, GW is perhaps the best guitarist magazine. But the site was not what I would expect from such a successful company. It sucks, it looks ugly from the homepage and on through. The worst part that got me was the forums, and the...(more)

  12. Blackwater Park by Opeth ·
This was the album that got me into Opeth. The band definitely features some of their most complex and talented work on this disc. Flowing beautifully from melodic classical guitar into a frenzy of heavy metal guitar and drums, this album could ...(more)

  13. Crimson Thunder by Hammerfall ·
I never used to be a big fan of power metal, but Hammerfall is the exception. They're very talented musicians and write some excellent material on this album. The favorite tracks of mine include, "Hearts on Fire", "Crimson Thunder", "Angel of Me...(more)

  14. Live In San Francisco by Joe Satriani ·
The sound and image quality of this DVD is fantastic. It's very professional and gives you the great feeling of being right there in the audience. It even includes multi-angles of 3 songs, discography, backstage footage, and supports 5.1 surroun...(more)

  15. Marshall AVT50 ·
This is quite a deal for only $400. The distortion/overdrive is the quality kind I can almost never find even with the effects boxes and such. The clean is typical of most amps, but has more options to it. If you're looking for a well-priced Mar...(more)

  16. Mind's Eye by Vinnie Moore ·
Vinnie has to be my favorite neo-classical shred guitarist, more so than even Yngwie. Why? Vinnie has actual riffs and rhythmic parts to his songs, it's not just various scales and arpeggios being shredded all over the place. This is a historica...(more)
