  1. Out Of The Madness by Derek Trucks Band ·
This recording is great. Derek belongs in the up and coming G3 with Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Jonny Lang. Derek's CD is lined with music to satisfy the starving lusts of music afficianados. The opening cut is "Preachin' Blues" (from the great Sun...(more)

  2. Gratitude by Earth, Wind and Fire ·
This recording contains 16 great tunes that will make you groove the night away. Al McKay funks it up on his guitar tearing up 16 note comps all over the place. Listen to Sun Goddess and you'll see why. Verdine White's bass makes you appreciate ...(more)

  3. Vivid by Living Colour ·
Vernon Reid - what can I say...Funk it up brother. Funky pocket grooves with 80's heavy metal chorused guitar over the top. "Cult of Personality" opens the disc and just kicks major butt. "Funny Vibe" is a funkticized song that brings funk/rock/...(more)

  4. Flex-Able Left Overs by Steve Vai ·
I couldn't wait 'til they released this onto CD. When I first heard the 10" EP, I thought that this was some of most outrageous, coolest, unconventional musical extravaganza I heard. True Frank Zappa is one of the masters, but Vai learned from o...(more)

  5. Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive ·
Smooth sound that can be used in a variety of styles. Best of all dirty and cheap!

  6. Finesse And Fury by Fourth Estate ·
A friend of mine first told of Dave Beagle and the Transperformance system - I thought the idea was just cool. Then I heard Fourth Estate and it floored me. Imagine retuning in the middle of a song sliding riffs, licks, and lines up or down a ha...(more)

  7. Different Stages by Rush ·
Wow 3 recordings! Set one opens with "Dreamline", a modern day "Xanadu" type lick that just cooks. The nasty driving lick of "Driven" and ever changing meter tells you the Rush signature is still there. Set one closes with a nice treat of the si...(more)

  8. Boss MT-2 Metal Zone ·
The unit is one dimensional with a lot of range. The hardcore stack sound is there and if you add a nice chorus (like the reissue Ibanez CS9), you'll have that great hardcore sound.

  11. Ibanez Sd-9 Sonic Distortion ·
Great distortion if that is what you are looking for and not quite well known. Think Stone Gossard and early Pearl Jam.

  13. Seymour Duncan 59 ·
I've used Dimarzio's, Lawrence's and Duncan's. They all have different characteristics sounds and tones. If you want rock, sing or go soft and mellow - try a '59. You just can't go wrong

If you want the true strat tone with having to buy vintage at 5 digit prices, find a good guitar and put these in, you will be pleased.

  17. Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion ·
I would love to own an 80's version. The difference being the trapeze tailpiece vs. a stop tailpiece and the arrangement of the pots. Other than those 2 points, this guitar cooks!

  18. MXR Phase 90 ·
This a good effect to boost your highs on a slow sweep. And if you want to get that Pink Floyd effect on "Have a Cigar", I'm for it!

  19. See The Light by Jeff Healey ·
From the open cut of John Hiatts Confidence Man, Jeff Healey tears up this album in grand fashion. Each cut on this album displays blues rock virtuosity all over the place. Take for instance the cut Nice Problem to Have is a great instrumental w...(more)

  20. How To Dimantle An Atomic Bomb by U2 ·
This album to me returns U2 to its "Unforgetable Fire/Joshua Tree" era. The music is very innovative yet remaining with the classic signature "Edge/Bono" sound - updated yet not imitated. From the opening hard edged cut "Vertigo" to the classic ...(more)
