Hmmm... school's out for summer in some places I see.
I'll check in with you guys later. I'm getting too busy with
three different bands to stay on here too much. Well,
have fun.

I've got a friend that I've sat in with who has been trying
to get a band together for two years and hasn't
succeeded yet. The reason he hasn't succeeded is
because he is expecting perfection in practice. This guy
actually wanted the full st...(more)

You might try of all things Hawaiian slack key (it's just
fingerstyle with a fancy name. I don't know who got it
from who so don't ask). One of the greatest in slack key
was the late IZ. If your wanting something a little easier
I'll see if ...(more)

Yeah! I'd think it would be the other way around for
some. Some access from school of all places. We
wouldn't want to stimulate their brains to thinking
musically. It would never help with their math even
though it is all mathematical... wel...(more)

If you care for southern rock at all or can occasionally
get into a classic skynard song, try Third Day. They've
got the goods. It's not really Christian Rock, but it's
about as close as you can get right now. Don't start with
the "Offerings...(more)

Jars of Clay rule!!!
I'm doing one of their songs now with band number 2
(of the three I'm playing with, 2 Christian, 1 Rock)
Ever heard "Love Song for a Savior"? I had to do a few
edits for P&W, but it came out fine.

Cool, we share a broad musical taste. I stick to the big
band era swing Jazz. The only thing half-way modern
in classical that I listen to is the neo-classical period
(which is none too modern). For the most part I had
some good songs going ...(more)

You could, but he used a second lead guitarist. One
that knew more riffs than he did. That guys still around.
Playing with a Christian band now. If I could remember
his name right now, I would add it to the list. This is sad
since I learned ...(more)

Blues, Classic Rock, Southern Rock, Jazz, Classical
(Baroque period mostly), Metal, Alternative, Some
Country (though nothing recent. You name it, I pretty
much listen to it and have blended it with anything else
you name.

Cool. It's working itself out. I couldn't have done better...
and that's saying a lot coming from me. I don't ever go
there.

Forget the toys. Save your money and get a
professional studio board. The sound of those cheap
things is... ugh!!!

I'm with you about the blues, but I must now hide my
face because "My Plague" is paying the bills. Okay, the
Fender blues club on here just sent word that I am to go
to my corner and think about my crime. :-)

Not bad. If it were me, I would've used slightly less gain
on the power chords, but it's not me. And honestly it
sounds like something that I could listen to while driving
to work. Great work. Keep it up.
By the way, did you play all the ins...(more)

And now they've got the mark II/First Act lines. They're
even worse than the Sears Silvertones were. I started
my son on one. Next time I'll know to just get him a
Squier.

He, he, he. Yep. I started on a Sears/Samick/Silvertone
acoustic, and it was absolutely awful.

I also feel I should add that due to stress related injuries
SRV had to change to lighter strings later in his career.
So don't go out and buy .018 strings thinking that it will
make you better than Stevie. Clapton is known for ernie
ball .0...(more)

I've got to defend both here. Hendrix is well known for
his tele. Page is well known for his Gibson LP's and his
double-neck with open tuning on the twelve side. Of
course any studio guitarist worth his salt is going to play
both hum and sin...(more)

Agreed, and in modern rock you can still see the
influence of the blues and the classical in many cases.
Perfect examples of both in early metal. Listen to some
classic AC/DC and you hear blues riffs everywhere.
Listen to classic Ozzy and yo...(more)

I've played both for years and always end up going
back to the single coils. I guess it's personal taste, but
getting back to the topic of the thread, I'm shocked to
find only the big two on this thread of dissapointments. I
had heard a lot ...(more)
