Dude, Not a Backpacker. A Little Martin. I've got a Backpacker and it is fun to play but I use it to camp with. I don't have to expose my real Martin to the elements and the neck feels like a Martin. The sound? Well, lets just say it ain't ...(more)

I'm looking to buy a 3/4 size travel guitar. I was considering the Little Martin but have been reading about the Baby Taylor. There is an appreciable difference in the price, the Taylor being more expensive. Anybody got anything to say about ...(more)

I'm considering buying a 3/4 size traveler guitar. My choices are the Little Martin or the Baby Taylor. There is a appreciable difference in the price and I'm not sure the Taylor is worth the asking price. Any comments?

I was reading in Acoustic Guitar magazine about the Bose Cylindrical Radiator speaker/amp system. Looks great and the ease of setting up for a gig looked super easy. It's a Bose so it's got to be good stuff and sound great. I looked it up on ...(more)

Catch my new gig at the Gilded Iguana in Nosara Costa Rica. Just covers with an acoustic but the place packs 'em in and it's a blast

What is HPL? Some guitar makers use it to make low end guitars. I was told it meant "high pressure laminate" but I don't know anything about it.

My guitar teacher told me about the problem as I usualluy play the guitar unplugged. The Applause bridge doesen't have holes in the top and pins for the strings but rather has holes through the bridge. I don't think the string changing is the ...(more)

Bob, I bought the guitar new and have had it about two years. I use it to practice and as a loner for walk-ups that want to play in my bar on open mic acoustic night. I live in Costa Rica near the beach and I'm wondering if that may have somet...(more)

I have an Applause Acoustic/Electric and it dosen't seem to be responding to the volume and tone controls. I looked inside and can't find a battery to change. Can anyone help a guitar dummy?

Has anyone had any experience with summer music camps? I'm interested in attending one but am not sure what they're all about. Any info will be appreciated.

Does anyone know of an Old Time/Bluegrass/Swing music camp in Arkansas or Virginia? Also, has anyone been to Ashokan Music Camp in NY?

I'm looking for a music camp for bluegrass in the southeastern or eastern part of the US. I need the immersion atmosphere to take my bluegrass guitar playing and singing to the next level. Any recomendations.?

I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed by the thought of getting a D-35 so cheap but cooler heads prevailed and I'm supper happy with my D-1.

No I didn't get the D-35. I bought a Martin D-1 new and don't really need another guitar. The D-1 is really sweet and sounds like honey is pouring out of the sound hole. But I'm pranoid about humidity damage now that I've seen it first hand. ...(more)

The original owner was a very good player and took care of his ax; normal wear and tear from jamming and such. Too much humidity is as bad or worse for guitars as not enough humidity. Joe

I spoke to the Martin people via email and they told me Martin isn't accepting any repair work at this time.

I just acquired a Martin D-35 that was stored in a case in a storage room for two years with no humidity (this is in Costa Rica)and it needs major work. So much work is necessary that I'm going to have to take it back to the US and send it to a...(more)

Our band, Fried Iguana, plays every Tuesday night in my bar in Nosara, Costa Rica. In between sets we let other musicians and singers take over the mic. It's a total blast and the beer and good times flow like the Missippi River. Guitar, banj...(more)
