I wish I had seen the CAGED system early on, I think it would have helped me progress faster. I started with the E shape, the bar chord and major scale box, and worked from there.

There is only one "flamer" round here these days, and you are paying WAY too much attention to the men on here.

Thanks for sharing that ! Some of these old tunes have interesting changes. Bad Leroy Brown also has some interesting changes, sort of like an old ragtime thing.

I hacked mine up quite a bit ! It was in rough shape anyway, there was a hole where one of the knobs was pushed through the wood. I got a neck in a trade and put it on in place of the old one. I ended up blocking the trem on mine.

I did not use those pickups... so might do something with them at some point. I got a loaded pickguard and added it on. The guitar I was given was pretty rough !! I painted it a charcoal metallic.

I recommend an Xacto saw. You can pick up an Xacto saw at a hobby store for not a lot of money. Might find it at a big box store too. I have had one for over 10 years, used it on my hobby stuff and made nuts for a couple guitars along the wa...(more)

I doubt the first fret buzz can be cured with adjusting the rod. One easy trick to raise the nut slots is to fill them, or partly fill them, with super glue. Then you can cut or file the slot again to lower the strings. If this guitar turns o...(more)

If you are gonna get out and play, you might want to get a Roland Cube as your backup. They generally sound great, and are very reliable. Depending on your volume needs, you may want to go with the 60 or the 80. I have heard of guys using the...(more)

I have not bought any kits from them, but got tuners, a pickup, blank pickguard material. They seem like a good place to shop.

It looks a LOT like a kit guitar from Grizzly Woodworking ... they have a range of kits from about $100 or so to maybe $400.
