I've got the Classic 30 and I think it's fantastic for blues and rock. I've got the tweed version, and yes, there is reverb hum, but once you turn the volume up, you don't notice it - it's only when you're not playing or playing quietly (like a...(more)

Peter Green for the feel of the music, and either Rory Gallagher or Jeff Beck for technical ability and what they do.

Yeah, George Harrison had written down the chords, and had labelled "bridge" at one point, and Eric read this upside down and thought that George had called it "Badge".

Hang on - wasn't Bernie Leadon the Bassist before Timothy B Schmit came in?

He's not modern, but he's back after a few years - Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac). Check out some of the Peter Green splintergroup stuff and maybe John Mayall.

The majority of Squires aren't that good. They're not all bad, but on the whole they're poor. But I've played some Squires that have been better than some Mexys, just as I've played some Mexys that are better than some Americans. You get some o...(more)

Maybe - they didn't have any real hits other than Should I stay or should I go after they split, but their songs were good and they were referred to as the beatles of punk

How hard are you strumming? Is it all (or most) strings or just one? You're probably best getting it set up professionally as people have said, as it's probably the relief of the neck or the bridge height having some effect on the strings. Yo...(more)

What will lowering the pickups do to effect fretbuzz?

Maybe it's me, but I'd say there's more mids to the guitar in Rock and Roll than anything else. You've probably already tried, but wack the mid up to full, the treble down loads and the bass down a bit. I'm guessing the gfx50 is a solid state ...(more)

lol I've been asked that, and for some reason, I find it easier on my strat - and I wear it lower than my LP. Thickness of the body and neck probably.

Yeah, he's an excellent player - do you know who is in his band? I didn't think much of his Sailing To Philadelphia album either - the only song I like is "what it is" and that's because it sounds like Dire Straits. AND, why is there a picture...(more)

Yeah, sorry, I meant the Fender double fat strat with two humbuckers. I didn't know Squire did one, but I'd be going for the Deluxe, which I think is American. I'd go for a Gibson LP for the sound, but that's out of my price range, I've tried ...(more)

I'm thinking of getting a double fat strat - I haven't played one yet, but has anyone got one / played one or have any opinions of them? Cheers, Peter

Hi, Yeah, I've got the tweed. I read on the Peavey forums that you can try unscrewing the tank and moving it back - it's a problem with interference with the speaker magnet - problem is, I had to move it 1 metre *behind* the whole amp to elimi...(more)

Yeah, it's a wonderful amp - fantastic clean sound. My only problem with it is that it gets a bit mushy doing chords with overdrive on, and the reverb tank creates a bit of feedback when it's used.

When I turn the volume on my amp up really high, and touch a metal bit on my guitar (strings, pickup, bridge, socket connector), there's a brief initial hum. I'm fairly certain it's a earthing (grounding) problem, but what do I need to do in or...(more)
