    technically, there are many different types of distortions. IMO, the best distortion I like is a bit of pedal distortion (just a bit), into a tube amp, overdriving the preamp tubes, as well as the power tubes. This going out through the speakers...(more)

    They are basically the same circuit, with the visual sound being a bit better, IMO. It also has a much need bass boost. I'd say what your probably needing rather than looking at the tubescreamer/route 66 problem, is to look at the big picture: a...(more)

    I do a number of mods to metalzone's which generally make it fatter, more tube-like in response, and much fuller. you can check it out at www.indyguitarist.com personally, I couldn't get a great tone out of it until I modded it...now I love it!...(more)
