Anyone here heard of this band? I'm really digging them; they're very proficient and I here the live show is unbelievable.

Thanks Rob, loving the chords. I think I much prefer the toes of music; and the nails, and the little bits of dirt...

Thank you *very* much for the theory lesson and the website, Jon. You've just locked me in my room with my guitar for another couple of weeks. : )

I've got a few questions: As I understand it, atonality is music that lacks a tonal center, so if you were soloing in the C major scale, the music would sound more and more atonal for every sharp/flat you hit. Dissonance is just a general te...(more)

Ok, I'll definately learn both then. Thanks for the help fellas. But until I get a bass, I think I'll work on my fingerstyle and just try to play basslines/power chords on the top two strings while playing melodies on the bottom four. A lo...(more)

I'm very convinced that I am! Consider the evidence: -I slap and pop on the guitar constantly. -I listen to Primus all day. -I don't know any scales up and down the fretboard, but I can slap half as fast as I can speed pick. Do you guys thi...(more)

Instructional Forum · 150 Hits · 6/22/2002 1:39 PM tar/xotic.html has always worked very well for me. The scales are eerie-sounding in a foreign way. If you want just plain EVIL-sounding, the flattened 5th interval works well: seq|1_2|2_3|Flatte...(more)

Hey everyone! I've been listening to a lot of Primus lately, and something's really been bugging me. In many songs, the guitarist (Larry LaLonde) plays weird sounds in the background that are mostly for texture. But on a few songs ("The 'Ol...(more)

I once saw a 14.3 mph speed limit sign in a retirement village. Wish I had a picture. Cop: Do you realize you were going 14.4 back there?

In my opinion, they can't even sing that well. They use their head and chest voices instead of singing from the diaphragm, and as a result their voices sound very thin and a little bit shrill (harmonizing vocals make up for this somewhat). ...(more)

I agree with you there, they're not the greatest guitar band by any means. If I could replace Adam Jones with anyone else I wouldn't, though, because he's got an amazing sense of atmosphere and plenty of cool riffs. Adding a guitarist is a ...(more)

Hopefully they will open the doors to other, similar artists. Tool is selling well right now, so maybe some other bands with the same depth and musical mastery will take place of some of the, IMO, "sewage" in today's music. But nima will de...(more)

I like any music that's deep, mainly psychadelic and progressive rock. I want to learn a few instruments to expand my musical experience (I've got a Guitar and am planning on buying a Bass), but I dunno, I really want a "different" sound. A...(more)
