Hi Dave, I am not too sure how long ago you asked the question (I have been unable to get on a computer for quite some time). I still use the Phonic desk with great success. I even have an operators handbook which I acquired thanks to another w...(more)

You are being a bit cheeky here Tracy! I am a die-hard Queen fan and to my great delight have found a way to download video clips. I have collected nearly every Queen song I can find but the sad part is watching Freddie deteriorate through to ...(more)

I know - I have been terribly slack and do not come back to WN as often as I should. I seem to spend my life playing and arranging for others which keeps me busy. I do at least two jobs a weekend with rehearsals on Monday night. From Monday t...(more)

Kool! Obviously you have joined this site and I hope you get a lot out of it. There is a lot to learn from here, if you want a few places to look, let me know and I will send you a few of my favorite lessons. Most of them are a bit intense an...(more)

I think the jury is out on your last point. I am a little fussy about being in tune. Hearing an instrument out of tune is almost like a fingernail down a blackboard for me. Interesting info about the lute. The next instrument I am saving for...(more)

It works with "Welcome to the Machine" - The Em9 - try this sequence out but pick it using your A string as a tonic and resolve into an Esus4 - E: cho|x|0|3|0|1|0|Am7|cho cho|x|0|5|0|3|0|? - Weird Chord|cho cho|x|0|3|2|3|0|? Another Weird|cho O...(more)

He seems like a nice guy. How have you been Charlie - it has been a busy start to the year for us all. I have a few interesting opportunities to think about with music but I do not want to let my ambitions get ahead of my capabilities (just ye...(more)

Practice - wow, I could more easily say when I do not practice. When the television is on, I have my guitar on my lap trying to out-do any music I hear in commercials or whatever else is playing. I sit at the computer with the guitar on my lap...(more)

You must be able to sleep through an earthquake! While some Floyd songs are nice and dreamy, they usually wake you up with a blast of the heavy stuff shortly after. Case in point - The Final Cut ends so nicely and harmonically, Roger Waters at...(more)

Nicely put Rex - I agree with you about the sound but they are a pain to keep in tune. What I particularly dislike is the way only one string will drift and the whole guitar sounds out. I never considered tuning in unison other than the obviou...(more)

Interesting - I often remove the octave G string, not through choice though because this is the most commonly broken string. It does not affect that much so I rarely get too excited when that happens. I was not trying to give the impression t...(more)

The only way to finger pick would be to use plastic or steel finger picks. I have tried them but cannot seem to get the hang of using them. I know what you mean about the difference in pressure required. The 12 needs more and I get fatigued...(more)

The thing is that they can sound outstandingly great if used well but they really are a pain to tune and keep in tune. I have a rather expensive one but even that one can be difficult at times. I recently installed an active pick-up set and th...(more)
