Howdy Y'all,
Don't know if this helps, but when I first started incorporating double-stop 6ths in my playing, I used to just associate these little movements with either a major, minor, or dominant chord by finding their roots, 3rd, 5ths, or 7t...(more)

Thanks for the feedback Ken...just not sure if the pre-verse/pre-chorus sections are working...I think the backround vocal ideas there are good ("Lose my place, time and space, etc.) and maybe it's just poor execution that's bothering me (poor n...(more)

Had the band recorded for this for over a decade...in fact, it was
my first submission to WN (as an instrumental) when I first
joined here.
Well, out of the blue, I get an idea for this old tune and decide to
dig it out and lay down the voca...(more)

Extending the chords to 7ths definitely reveals even more similarities...
C E G B
E G B D
A C E G
However, although all these chords can substitute for one another, their relationship to the bass determines their harmonic effect. They only fun...(more)

I think it's important to know the distinction between what a
chord substitution is and what reharmonizations are, and
understanding both can certainly make one a better player. Both
are deep topics, and both have different, but major implica...(more)

Just a comment about chord substitution.
To my knowledge, a chord "substitution", by definition, is substituting one chord for another which shares at least two common chord tones.

I think Randy was saying that the rhythmic emphasis is on 2 and
4...the chords do usually change on the 1st or 3rd beats of the

I feel your pretty off base here Adriano, especially in your defense of BP. I think your comments ares misguided and insensitive.
