I don't know what your style or technic is like, but if you put your guitar into a position like classical guitar players do, you should automatically improve your reach. If you wear your guitar low your reach will suffer. <br /> It also depend...(more)

I live in Cinci too, and I think I know exactly which 2 stores you are talking about. Unfortunately, my guitar tastes are very specific, and neither one has what I look for. I do try to get to Carter Music as often as possible for strings- his...(more)

Well, I've played/seen some nice ones, and some that weren't... Their low end stuff is generally good, but I had a student that had one that wouldn't intonate properly on the high "E" string- I moved the saddles and even tried different string ...(more)

When I lived in Dallas, I met a singer at a blues jam, and we decided to get a band together. After rehearsing a while, we set up a gig at a local bar. Because of my work schedule, I was going to be about a half hour late, so instead of asking...(more)

Yeah, I was laughing as I typed it. I would have no problem paying $5 for wholenote- especially if CHris and those starter guys got a piece. And seriously, if it would pay for a full-time moderator, I'm all for it. JC

The last time I emailed Chris he responded within about 24 hours. I seem to recall that this site was startd as some sort of school project a few years ago. The "owners" aren't paid for their time and have their own livelihood, families and li...(more)

I think Ed, Ken and Dale and others are all right on the money (so to speak). If you can afford the items, and it brings you closer to your son- it is worth it right there. If you and he learn something about music too and are having fun- that...(more)

Well, it sounds like you are probably about 1 in a thousand (or 10 thousand) as far as natural ability- thank your parents. The role of a teacher is to direct and guide you- it really doesn't matter how fast you learn or what you already know a...(more)

<i>or could you discuss how you run your little duo project without a full band....</i> <br /><br /> Well, that's easy. I cover the chords and bassline, and she sings. <br /><br /> We do jazz, rock, R&amp;B- pretty diverse, usually. I also do ...(more)

(for Paul) That's because copyright has nothing to do with quality of transcription, just that you had permission and are paying the necessary fees to do it. It's pretty easy to find 3 different versions of a popular song- and each one could hav...(more)

I'm no legal expert, but I believe there is some wiggle room if you are posting tabe because it is an "interpretation"... which is possibly because the tabe are generally blatanlty wrong in the first place. It is true that you can not copyrigh...(more)

I can relate- I am over 300 pounds and sometimes have fingering issues (especially in the higher positions). I also use fingerings where I play several strings with 1 finger. Generally, if I practice enough, I can clean up my technique and squ...(more)

Key really doesn't have much to do with location on an instrument, you can really play in any key anywhere on a guitar. For example, you can cover any major or minor key in the 1st 6 frets of the guitar.<br /><br /> Likewise, even the saxophone...(more)
