Not wrong so much as worded... strangely. <br /><br /> You can play a melodic minor (scale) over any dominant chord you like. You can use the one a half step higher if you want an altered-dominant sound, or the the one a 5th higher for Lydian-d...(more)

I am a big fan of pedals. I spent a lot of time (and $$) putting together a pedal board that worked for me. It ended up being pretty big and heavy... and there was alwatys one more pedal I wanted to get, for some other sound... I never like t...(more)

Depending on your amp and how it's set, you can also go all neck pickup if you roll your tone down. G&amp;L guitars (some models, at least) have a slightly different control setup- one volume knob, and the two tone knobs control bass and treble...(more)

I agree with the other guys- acoustic through PA should be just fine- we do it that way at church on a weekly basis. Depending on your mixer set up and which amp you are considering, you may have more or less tone shaping options either way. B...(more)

As far as knowing chords goes, if you know 2 ways to play each chord-generally 1 way with the root on the 5th string and 1 way with the root on the 6th string, you can pretty much navigate a lot of tunes. You should be able to play minor 7, dom ...(more)

How many/ which pedals do you use? It would impact size, shape and complexity... Pine or something is pertty light- I'm not sure you'll find a suitable metal that saves you much weight. I suppose you could try plexiglass or something.. that w...(more)

I used velcro from Home Depot or somewhere- the extra heavy duty stuff. A few inches of that WILL hold your pedal- I was skeptical at first, but beoleive me, it will hold. Cheaper velcro doesn't do as well- it tends to actually pull of off the...(more)

As I see it,the basis of "PC" is respect and politeness- noble intentions, even if the end result is pretty annoying. <br /> And so, in the spirit of "PC" and the season I will assume that you didn't intend for your post to be as insulting as I i...(more)

I used to use d'addario half wounds pretty much exclusively. I liked them for jazz and some blues because they don't get too dark, but avoid the over-bright wound round sound. Lately, I've been using Thomastic round wounds, but I might throw t...(more)

Well, on one hand, the store has to "make a living", and if they generally need to make 30% on used gear and 50% on new gear, that's just the way business works. I have a hard time faulting shops - unless they are stupid, they know that they n...(more)
