Man at a dance goes up to the bandleader. 'Do you do requests?'. 'Sure,' says the bandleader, 'what would you like?'. 'Oh, anything'.
(That's a very old one).

It was me who complained but I wasn't complaining because I'm a troll or my life is empty! It wasn't really a complaint anyway, more a comment.
The point about Wholenote is that it's good to hear what music people have made. Press a button and ...(more)

I don't think you need a classical guitar. Classical normally means nylon strings, is that what you mean?
It's a fiddle tune so an acoustic steel strung guitar will do perfectly.
Or are you saying you've only got a strat or something?

I haven't got an MP3, I'm afraid. I think it might be of better use to you if you got your sound sorted out. Wholenote without sound isn't really much good!
There's a link for help with sound:

Let your student keep them separate then. No need to force it. One day he'll say 'Oh look, it's the same notes, innit?' :)

Thanks for your comments, Chris. To be honest I hadn't planned any more at the moment. But you never know, I might suddenly get the urge!

Hello Fred -
Sorry for the delay in answering this. I've been away from Wholenote for some time.
What sort of progression do you mean? In the key of G, for example, not many Bluegrass tunes go to an Am or A7 which is the 2 chord. In fact I ca...(more)

All right, Warren, you've made your point but it's still not a musical question. I suspect that English isn't Maureen's first language but I could be wrong.

I do think you're getting a bit over-emotional about it. I also notice you...(more)

Quite right, it wasn't mean spirited. But I know what happens when you start trying to help people! I'm happy to answer musical queries but how to do this and that on the computer? - no, sorry.

If Maureen could be specific about exa...(more)

Hi, Maureen. Of course you can practice it offline! Mind you, this seems a very obvious answer. Is it what you meant?

Hi Adrian -

Thanks. That tuning really does work once you've got it. I tested it after I'd posted the lesson and it took about 40 seconds. It's far better than the usual top E and work down standard method. It's also a lot better th...(more)

Thanks, Rik, I'll see what I can do.

Incidentally, it might be worth pointing out that the midi version of 'Banks' doesn't quite capture the way it's really played. In reality it's much more laid back and swings along more. The midi versi...(more)
