I've been thinking, it would be nice if WN's Frettbuzz had a forum dedicated to "Venues" or "Gigs" or "Performance." There may be some folks who learn guitar just to play for their own enjoyment, to deal with stress, or just for their spouse/fa...(more)

Why is it that when posting on the Open Forum, one must pull up one's emails first to confirm the posting, before it's posted? It seems awkward. Is this new? Also, it lists members as "Non-member."

I see, Rob Bee... guiar. guiteaar. Neither one of them looks quite English, with or without the tea! To me it looks more like a word that could pass for some strange, new exotic fruit from Latin America. guicoffeear. That doesn't quite wo...(more)

What time is Tea Time? Which teas are acceptable by the English, and which are taboo? What is a good tea to drink whilst jamming on a guitar? Must crumpets accompany tea, or English Muffins? What is suitable for serving with tea? Do the Englis...(more)

Marc: "but we do need to keep church and state seperate" There is nothing in the Constititution or Declaration about keeping church and state separate. Perhaps in some correspondence from Jefferson, but not in an official U.S. document. I ag...(more)

Is it possible to extend the period of time the metronome works here at WholeNote? I was playing and it stopped in the middle of a song. -Rik.

I'm certain that not one of you who have criticized President George W. Bush could do better than he has. It's easy for you to dish out the jokes. Why not pray for the man. I wouldn't wish his job on any of us (least of all on Hillary). An...(more)

Should musicians change their styles as they age? Should they be true to themselves musically, or true to their fans (or what their contract will accept)? What about musicians who started out as stars, lacking talent but not popularity. Then ...(more)

I'm starting to use Dropped D Tuning for Celtic Guitar. It seems that most of the books for Celtic fingerstyle use alternative tunings--I counted about 12 different tunings in three or four books in this genre. I'll agree, experimenting with d...(more)

Depends on what style of music you play, how many venues in your area cater to that genre of music, and what the competition looks like. Most people (especially younger ones) are sick of doing "homework", but if you keep track of the ones you d...(more)

Dale, Thanks for the comments. I'm not looking to rant about anything, by the way. Like i said earlier, I'm here because WN has what it does. If I were to rant, it would be that everything here is tablature without standard musical notation....(more)
