Right now Mayweather gets my vote. I'm not so interested in Tarver/Jones III as much as I would have been in Jones/Hopkins II.

Listen to the material your teacher laid out for you. Sing the first sound that comes into your mind when you hear the material. Now locate that on the guitar and work with it many times. Don't try to listen to other recordings and copy. Shut t...(more)

So you're only agreeing with my original point that learning theory will deaden your vamp skills a lot? Maybe I didn't specify that enough, and that's why we seem to be at opposite ends, when we are stressing the same point! I agree man. I CAN ...(more)

Well you should think this through a bit. Iommi probably influenced tons of 80's metal bands and what not. But I guarantee you Jimmy Page got more kids to play guitar. Iommi influenced one genre of music for the most part, meanwhile, lots of gui...(more)

You want to learn some E minor pentatonic blues riffs? Check out Slash's solo in "Sweet Child 'o' Mine". His use of this scale and some sick blues riffs are executed perfectly. It's a good solo to learn, just to get in your mind the concepts on ...(more)

Well you have genius theorists, like Petrucci And you have amazing non-theorists, like Hendrix. Both great, both amazing. Do I find Jimi's ability more amazing, seeing as he didn't know a thing about anything, and his skill was trully coming f...(more)

I've stuck with the Ibanez Tube Screamer and a Boss Hyper Metal pedal for while now. Looking to pick up another good pedal for metal tones, low drive, and all around powerful distortion. Boss has an array of choices: MT-2 Metal Zone HM-2 Heavy ...(more)
