Well, Andy's method suited me just fine. The last time I Tried tuning down I probably didn't double check the tuning. Works great, thanks for all the replies, helped a lot. Learned a new way to tune too, (octave method) and that helped quite ...(more)

Hmm. Never heard of harmonics being a bad method . Seems fairly reliable. I'll get it in tune. Thanks. I think I've got a trem system. Theres a plastic plate with 6 screws attaching it to the back of the guitar. What does it do? Isn't a ...(more)

Sorry, this is gonna be a bit of a newby question, but how can I tell if I have a trem system on my guitar? I have a strat copy guitar. I'll try that Andy, thanks. Will the natural harmonic tuning method still work if its a half step down?

I tried to tune down a half step once, a long time ago... I figured all I would do was bar the first fret, and then use an electronic tuner. After I finished in this manner, I played a chord. It sounded horrible. The guitar was out of t...(more)

Hey Kirk, thanks for the responses. I can't improvise using the chord tone approach, or the scale approach. Instead I just sort of start playing over a BT, and remember which notes sound good. This doesn't work too well either... It see...(more)

Hey, I've been thinking about buying a new acoustic guitar, and I'd like to hear any tips you might have. I'd probably use it mostly for fingerstyle guitar, and some strumming. I think I'd like a steel string. Price range is under $600 (Can)....(more)

Wow, that was really impressive. I agree with Sid, you've got what it takes. Do you use software to create the other instruments? If so, what'd you use? The tone of your guitar sounds great. Where could I get a distortion pedal like yours...(more)

Hello James. I agree with you on your points about Ywngie and David Gilmour. I'm actually a fan of Gilmours guitar work, its great what he can do with just a few notes. I think that although many people have different tastes, there is a gen...(more)

Thanks. I don't know yet. I've written poetry, but never words for a song. I'll just keep it like it is for now. Maybe one day I'll write some words for it.

Yeah, time does tend to solve all problems. I've tried improvising over a backing track, and it was pretty fun, but I wasn't great at it. Reading music does sound like a very useful tool on guitar.
