good? multi effects? no.
versitile? they can do that.
a great value? many of them are.
sounds that really measure up and a
managable interface? not a chance.

Don't go to Guitar Center! Anyone! Guitar
Center is the devil!!!!!! GO experience the
friendly service and expertise of your local
privately-owned guitar shop! for the love of
god. Guitars should be sold by people, not
automotons.

If it's the Custom, go for it! I used one for 3
years almost exclusively and it was awesome!
It's really got a great sound for what you pay.
Get it!

At one time or another, i've subscribed too all
the guitar mags out there. my favorite by far is
GuitarPlayer. It's well-written (for a guitar mag),
well organized, and has excellent content. Its
stuff that really applies to anyone, regardle...(more)

hello. I'm writing a song that i want to give a
Dorian feel to. If I want to emphasize D dorian
instead of C Ionian, should my root (D) be a
minor 7th? just making sure. i'm still a bit hazy
on all this. thanks!

Anything that says crate on it is s---, in my
opinion. If you want something small that
sounds good (of course it depends on your
style), look into a small tube amp. It'll be worth
the money and a good one can last a lifetime.
A small Fende...(more)

hey, this is a question for people who have
been to the National Guitar Workshop before.
I'm leaving for the Conneticut campus in a few
days, and i'm deciding which guitar to take.
Basically, it's either my $1000 PRS or my $450
Strat. The P...(more)

how many guitarists have to go before a band
just moves on? I mean, really. they're great,
but it's gotta stop sometime.

Does anyone know how many times we've
been through this????
Get off the computer, pick up your guitar,
practice, play something that makes you
happy. Maybe it'll make somebody else happy.
And maybe someday it'll make millions of
people hap...(more)

The SRV sound is really in the fingers, hands,
and brain. But still, here are some things that
help me get that sound.
Fender Strat. Really, this is the most
important peice of equipment there is for his
sound. It's unmistakably Fender. Any...(more)

God, the constant topic. In defense of
shredders, the little metal playing I do is
because its fun. There's something that really
brings out some crazy testosterone about
playing a bizillion notes a second. I'm not into
the costumes and mak...(more)

Something to look into are the Smithsonian's
Folkways recordings. They were done
throughout the century recording American folk
artists, including Lightnin' Hopkins, Lonnie
Johnson, and Leadbelly. My favorite from their
catalog are Brownie ...(more)

The other day I was screwing around in my
school's music room and found that my strat
sounded amazing through the Peavy bass
amp there. David Gilmour is one who used
bass amps for his clean sound. If you can
afford the 2 amp setup, this is ...(more)

To me, Bigsby units are the coolest looking
things around. Still, I personally prefer a strat
system. But I have played one on a tele and it
was very cool. Really, they're coolest on a Les
Paul. However, if you like the feel, the range,
and...(more)

I used Elixers for a while on my crappy (and i
mean crappy) acoustic when i was going on a
trip and wouldn't have access to new strings.
They really gave new life to that guitar. They
sound brilliant and lasted forever, not to
mention feeli...(more)

nothing can tell you better than your ear. try guitars
before buying them in the future, cause each one is
different and nobody can decide but you.

I thought about doing that myself when the LP was
my main guitar. That's a good idea if you really
love the instrument, like you'd still play it if
you could afford a Gibson custom or whatever. But,
the fact is, the other corners epiphone cu...(more)

The Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9 is the
quintessential blues rock deal. SRV and basically
everyone else has one somewhere in their pedal
board. I've found it to be a very versitile pedal,
because it also works well mixed with other
distortions...(more)

They're just basic Epiphone pickups, prolly the
same as in the custom and ES-335 models. They're
copies of the Gibson classic pickups, and though
they're close, they're not the same. Still, i used
a Epi LP Custom for years with those pickups...(more)
