That's a shame. I used to spend a lot of time here. But then something went weird. There was some non-member who came here and flamed on everyone and everything. It was a drag. Just some jagoff enjoying the anonymity of the internet. It was abou...(more)

Checking back in! I've been mostly on the Mark Wein site (Damn Randy for getting me hooked). What's been happening over here?

I have really never understood how and when to use compressors. I like the sustain they give, but have never really been able to dial one in to the point where I wanted to use one.

Wow, can't believe someone dug this old thread of mine up. Well, it was done to sing Randy's praises, so it's ok by me!

The other fence is built out of amps.

I could see that being a nightmare. Fortunately, I don't have that problem. And since we're (obviously) in the same house, we can practice at home a few days a week, so we're always ready for the sets.

Played a show today. I took 7, and my wife took 3, our singer/other guitar player took 2 or 3, and the bass player took 2. There were a ton of axes on that stage.

Just curious. I take 6 or 7, which I know is a bit excessive, but we play in 2 different tunings (standard and half step down), and I want backups for everything. Plus, if I'm playing 4 hours that night, I want a little variety.

Ha. That's not even all the guitars. Between my wife and I, we have 32 of them. It gets a little crazy with guitars everywhere, but it's a good problem to have. <img src="http://wn.etonals.com/images/asset/m/asset-m-21_7AABABBFACD84056B4CD95EF14...(more)

Pancreatic cancer is the worst one you can have. Even nowdays, it's pretty much a death sentence. That's a bummer. I've always been a Deep Purple fan. My very first record was Machine Head.

I don't view Dark Side of the Moon as a concept album so much as a great collection of songs. For me, Animals would be my choice. It takes humanity, and points out our 3 most common animal-like traits: Dogs, Pigs, and Sheep.

Yeah, I'm really curious about these. I love 24 fret guitars, though I'm not much of a LP guy.

Nice Carvin! I just bought their amp, maybe a guitar is next. I really like their St series.

Happiness is marrying a guitarist, Way easier to justify those purchases! No having to explain why you need a guitar, more like having to explain why you didn't get one for her too. It gets expensive!
