my cd cover
I was drawn into the cruel world of guitar playing at the influential age of 14, when I decided I wanted to play in the school jazz band, but I could only play clarinet. My dad gave me a cheap electric, a book on jazz/rock/pop chords and a book of solo transcriptions. Apparently he meant for me to learn the chords and play the songs in the book, but i misunderstood and learned the transcribed solos, and after a year of intense practicing, i joined the jazz band only to find that i didn't need any soloing skill whatsoever because all they needed of me was quarter-note comping. BAH!!!!
