Hello and Welcome !!
Well, to answer the first question. I'm just a guy that likes to play guitar and wants to share what I know with others.
I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Performing Arts in Music. This is where I developed my love of Classical guitar. Even though it can be stuffy and pretentious, classical guitar can truly touch the soul.
I decided to attend Musicians Institute in Hollywood (HollyWEIRD, more like it), CA. What an amazing year that was. I learned a TON!! and practiced until my fingers bled. At MI, I fell in love w/ jazz, espcially Chord Melody playing, even though I'm not very good at it.
After graduating from MI, I moved home to Denver, CO. I wanted to play, play alot. So I did what every guitar playing egomaniac does ... join a band. I was lucky enough to find three guys that were truly talented. We wrote our own songs and performed them as much as we could at local bars and clubs. It was a REM/Pearl Jam/Tom Petty/Lou Reed kinda sound.
After 8 years of playing together, it became apparent to us that the fantasy of becoming superstars clashed with the reality of younger bands passing us by. We decided to end the band *snif* *snif* and move on with our lives
Now, I play for myself. I enjoy arranging chord melody tunes, practicing my classical etudes, and jamming on the 12 bar blues.
Check out my lessons. I'll try to post a new one every month (depending on how busy life gets)
Feel free to email me. I look forward to hearing any questions, suggestions, criticisms, complements or just a hello.
