Bring on the Rain!

From Portland to the End of the World

OK, it's been almost 3 years now, and well, I'm OK, but not all that good. Still, it is hard not to pick up a guitar and play at least once a day. If my skill level matched my gear acquisition, I'd have a record contract by now.

One day I'll get some songs together and get in on a gig. One day. . . .

Stuff I'm Finding Useful

"Blues You Can Use," by John Ganapes -- the entire series. These books (with CDs) get you into playing. Each lesson gives you some scale theory and chord theory, then concludes with a solo piece that is just easy enough to get into, but contains many elements that will require some serious work.

Musical Influences

  • Bruce Springsteen, John Hiatt, Luther Allison
  • Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Chrissie Hynde
  • Bruce Cockburn, Richard Thompson

Favorite Recordings

  • Born to Run, Darkness. . .
  • Beyond the Missouri Sky
  • Sweet Tea, by Buddy Guy
