The best "free" rock & roll in South Florida
"We All Want To Change The World..."
I'm 48 years old and have been playing guitar since I was 13. I grew up and learned to play in the Mississippi Delta, barely aware of the amzazing blues heritage that surrounded me until I went to college in Florida - and learned about it from a bunch of really good musicians from New Jersey! In fact, my father ran a little rural juke joint in the early 50's, and he regularly had BB King play solo there on Saturday nights. Not aware of any of this, I followed popular rock & roll until "disco" nearly killed it. At that point I played country / rock at numerous small gigs across the Delta until recently when "classic" rock came in vouge again.
I now play lead guitar in a great little rock & roll cover band in south Florida. We call ourselves "Joewood"; after a small endangered native plant that only exists in the Florida Keys. Most of the guys in the band are professional ecologists and biologists so I guess the name is funny to them, especially when they use it's latin name to introduce the band... I still don't get it!
I play a 1997 Gibson Les Paul Jimmy Page Signature model, a 1974 Gibson Flying V re-issue model, a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, and a rebuilt 1974 Fender Stratocaster. I use a 1969 Fender Twin Reverb Silverface with a Line6 POD2 on the front end. I'm just getting into digital amp simulation... It really can't beat "tube" tones, but I can't afford the dozen or so amp models needed to accurately cover 50 years of rock music!
