Just to introduce myself. I am 26 years old and live just south-east of London, England. It has been 10 years since I first picked up the guitar. I have been playing it seriously now for about 3 years and found that it has become quite an obsession. I enjoy all kinds of music as long as it's well done (jazz, metal, blues and so on..).
How it all started
Well initially I think I just wanted to make a noise. I don't have a musical family so my background wasn't that way inclined.
When I was younger I mainly listened to thrash bands - bands I don't listen to anymore! But amidst all that one band really inspired me (not thrash!): Led Zeppelin. At that time all I wanted to play well was Stairway to Heaven (and join the rest of the planets guitarists:-)). So I guess that's where it all started. Oh yeah, must not forget Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child and Purple Haze were other major influences. And it went on from there.
A lot has changed now. My musical taste has matured and I like just about anything well written. So my favourite just depends on the day of the week and my mood.
I am very fortunate to have a supportive wife who encourages my musical interests. I also have a 3 year old daughter who never fails to inspire me. My family give my life meaning and have given me reason to search deaper within myself and life. I believe this is why I am so passionate about music. For me playing music is the ultimate expression of my soul. So with lots of practice and study, I'll develop the ability to express myself better.
I currently work as a software developer in London. Where I write Internet based solutions. I recently graduated from the University of Greenwich, just over a year ago.
Anyway, it's great to be a member of Whole-Note. Every one I have had contact with so far seems really friendly and helpful. It's good to be among people with something as wonderful as music in common.
