The Erotic Adventures Of Stefan And Other Disgusting Stories

Mal-adjustment and Jimmy Page

I've been playing guitar since November 2000 and basically i'm the fastest learner ever. I decided to start playing after consistently listening to the album "Siamese Dream" by smashing pumpkins. i was blown away by the sounds Billy Corgan and James Iha were able to create. After much listening and wishing i was as good as that i decided to start playing the guitar. I bought some crappy acoustic and starting playing tracks like disarm and then got into easy riffs like dammit by blink 182 and loads of stereophonics stuff. General easy guitar stuff. After a while i realised that i sucked at acoustic because i was playing it like it was an electric guitar. I realised it was time for me to get an electric so i started saving and eventually i was able to afford my beautiful American Series Strat. Its a nice guitar for Corgan style playing and after hours of practice every day I'm now at a decent enough standard to play tricky solos like "quiet" and "soma". Once i had learnt all this crap i realised that smashing pumpkins were crap compared to a certain British band of the late 60's and 70's and like almost every guitarist around the world i started to play along to the guitar noise of Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin.

All About Being Poor

what set up do i have? Well at the moment i have a new American series Fender Stratocaster into a Carlsbro GTX40 Tranny amp. Not the best set up ever, but I have no money and im doing my best to make it better. I now intend to get some pedals including Marshall Edward the compressor, Vox V847 Wah and some kind of fuzz pedal to get that early zeppelin sound. I realise that i am in fairly desperate need of getting a new amp, but im torn between two things. A Marshall TSL 60 so that i have the variability to emulate the sounds of all my favourite guitarists or a VOX AC30 which would mean i would have the greatest amp ever, but with a lack of different sounds. I also intend to buy a Telecaster of some sort to get the Jimmy Page sound, it will probably be a '72 custom because i like the look of it and i like the humbucker sound u get out of it. Its also pretty cheap and designed as if from the period of music i want to emulate using it.
