me! fiddling with my Washburn D11.
the background stuff.
hey whats up,
I started playing around 7-8 years ago, but turned into the typical copy all the cool stuff guitar player type, then got bored and stopped playing all together for about a year.
I didn't play for probably a year, then finally got back into playing. I happened across wholenote.com and realized that i really didn't know anything about making music.
and I'm now trying hard to solve this problem. I am getting there slowly. I'm enjoying my playing alot more now though, so it works out. I'm trying to learn theory right now, probably literally right now. LOL I'm probably sitting with the guitar going. Okay, Locrain mode starts here, now i can hit this chord and it should sound good... *strange noise*. or maybe not. . .
I have a major addiction with playing my guitars now, (extremely protective of them also, but thats beside the point)I've bought two new ones within the past couple months and have one or the other in my hands 95% of my free time.
One was a Gib LP studio, Emerald Green w/gold hardware (sorry, i'm still in shock that i actually own a LP) and a Galveston Resonator. (thanks to Jim Burger for his part in making me realize what i really wanted to play slide with)
Which obviously leads to my current styles of interest. I'm very much into alt rock, and just good old rock and roll, but I'm quickly developing a deep admiration and respect for slide guitar, especially old style blues,
Muddy Waters, & Rory Gallagher are my personal fav's right now, but i'm really just starting to tip the iceberg of slide so I don't really know enough to think my personal playing is being influenced by anybody imparticular yet. I'm still trying to get myself settled down enough to slide thru some stuff smoothly, and not sound TOO bad.
ask me in 4-5 months and i'll let you know.
