Musical Influences:

My Blues roots go deep & I've gigged with legends such as Johnny Shines (Robert Johnson's traveling buddy) & Champion Jack DuPree. I have an intimate relationship with the music of Bird & a never ending love for the musics of Hendrix, Django & Jobim.

Performing Experience:
|
I have toured all over the world as a professional musician both as a side man and as band leader. Formations included: Jazz combos, Rock groups, Country bands, and (believe it or not) Disco cover bands.

Education & Training:
|
I studied music at UCDC with Dr William Fowler (piezo co-inventor) and Paris Rutherford (jazz studies regent UNT) and am also a published contributor to the jazz theory bible "Jazzology: The Encyclopedia of Jazz Theory for All Musicians" (Hal Leonard).

Personal Statement:
|
People come to music for a great variety of reasons, consequently I tailor my lessons to each individual student's needs and wants.
Every person sees the world differently. Some are more visual, some more tactile, some more intuitive, some more cerebral, etc. Understanding this allows me to adapt to each student's most natural mode of learning so that the material is grasped more easily (therefore more quickly), and so that it is retained longer.
