Personal Statement

I teach all levels of classic guitar, from beginners to advanced professionals in need of coaching for performances etc. I feel that many people don't get good teachers (or any teacher at all) when they first start and as a result, get into bad habits which later have to be corrected if the person is to play well. In fact, a large number of my students are serious players who have run into technical brick walls of one sort or another who have come to me to find out what is not working. A doctor who is currently writing a book on training musician's hands has consulted with me (and given me some added insights into various problems), and I have studied a fair amount of anatomy also, not to mention helping my own students work on technical problems. So all that (plus making sure beginners don't develop such bad habits) is to some degree my specialty these days. However, musical coaching of students who already can play well with no big problems is also a great delight to me.
