Personal Statement

My program is applicable to electric, acoustic, six and seven string guitars. My program is aimed at stimulating the musical development of guitarist. I do not specialize in teaching radio songs and Eddie Van Halen solos, although I will gladly do this if a student wishes. What I do specialize in is teaching guitarists to become their own musicians, to realize their own musical potential. We are all familiar with the proverb "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for one day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat the rest of his life." This in mind, I insist that the best way to teach a student how to emulate their influences is to teach them how to better understand the material, instead of just mimicking it. Ear training and music theory is my solution to teaching guitarists "tricks", because if we want to learn a song, the best way is to do it by ear, and the second best way is to download a tab.
