Personal Statement:
|
I like to teach young students from about 6 or 7 years old on a individual basis . I like a parent or similar to come in at the end of a session to hear us sing and listen to my corny jokes.Whilst I use chord shapes [ diagrams ] and tab I prefer music reading from the word go! Exams are intoduced [ trinity college of music london ] at grade 1 0r higher depending on age and ability ,although exams are not compulsory at any age. I encourage students to bring along their own music on tape CD or written music. We may arrange the music together finding suitable keys,chords and style. We use my own book which has scales ,chords intervals ,jazz classic finger style nylon strings and electric plectrum.We use the real book and my own arrangements devised for gigs and night club work.
