I love sharing my knowledge with fellow musicians. I keep a chart for each student's progress and try to push the student to their fullest on every aspect of playing guitar. I use standard notation and tablature. I always use a metronome and suggest that the student get one. I segment sessions into 15, 20, or 30 minute sections. I show how to warm-up, use the proper technique. The theory of building scales, chords and, modes will be gradually introduced into the students long-term memory. I show all the techniques of playing...good and bad...and explain why they work/don't work. I show how to lead over chord changes and how to listen for progressions. Blues playing is introduced along with the Major scale to keep interest while teaching core material. And I always make sure the student is having fun..that is one reason we play music, right?
