Dean Markley DMC-80

100W Combo (2 x 2")

Made by Dean Markley

Description This amp is a behemoth, I think the 80 in the DMC stands more for it's weight than it's output.

This DMC-80 amp is discontinued..last out in 94-95. Dean Markley amps are sought after by many..the 30 watt/12' tube models are going for $700. The DMC-80 is a very under-rated guitar amp and was overlooked by many players in liew of fenders hot rod series amps which were released at the same time period. Many people who have heard the amp asked if it was a Mesa! Yes..for a SS amp..It Does Sound That Good!
Features:
Clean no-nonsense solid state amp. 100 watt/effect loop/drive voicing module/ 2 channel/2x10 speakers/stereo chorus/This is NOT a Practice Amp..it can get very loud! I Have been giggin with this same amp over 20 years, and it never failed me yet! Built like a Tank..one heavy mutha for a combo amp.
Sound Quality:
I don't need alot of junk on the floor..the DMC80 stands up on its own..but I do use a Ibenez Tube Screamer to ad for bluesy type. The Voicing is very good on its own..the cleans are great..and the spring reverb is Dreamy. The DMC80 is as good/or better than many other amps that I have owned through out the years. Not noisy at all..Great Cleans and Driven Breaks up Great also.
Ease of Use:
This amp has no Analog/Digital junk you find in many amps these days..I consider that a Artificial Sound, not the true sound that the amp can produce! The amp does have a Drive Voicing Module..8 small switches in the rear of the amp..its designed to dial in your own sound with 286 different combos, and 3 factory pre-sets
Durability:
Its like a Rock! Mine has been dropped off stages, bounced all over hell and high water to different giggs, frozen in aircraft hauls..Never had any repairs!

I'm only giving it a 4 because of the weight. It weighs more than a Kindergardener for heavens sake!!!! The price couldn't be beat however, and I'll buy another one if I could find one.
Price: $120.00
Where Obtained: Daddys Junky Music
Features:
The two channels are both great! Even when turned low the whole room shakes, and I can FEEL the music in my chest cavity, LITTERALLY!!! I can't get a footswitch at the moment, but that's fine by me, the amp has ball-shaking tone in any channel, and I DON'T even need the reverb, or the chorus!!!!!!
Sound Quality:
The sound is AWSOME!!!! I have no idea if it plays well for anything softer than HARD-HITTING-HARD-ROCK, but I DON'T CARE!!! (DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?!?!) I can't hear much after playing for long periods, but I should probably expect that playing with the volume on the main channel at half, and the DIRTY channel cranked (gain 10, level 6)!!
Ease of Use:
EASY? YES IT IS!!!! Just plug in, turn up the volume, scoop the mids, and JAM TILL THE SWAT TEAM ARRIVES!!!!
Durability:
As heavy duty as it is HEAVY!!, I dropped the thing while bringing it to my room and it nearly destroyed the stairs, yet it sustained NO, hear me NO damage. I still had to replace the step.
