When searching for a hollowbody electric for jazz playing I also checked out Ibanez and Epiphone.....looked at Gibsons and others too but I knew they were waaaaay out of my price range. Soooo when I checked this one out and read the numerous reviews on the Musician's Friend website I just couldn't pass it up.....$199.99 for a guitar like this is very hard to find. If I ever lost this guitar or it was stolen I would buy this guitar again.
Price: $199.99 (new)
Where Obtained: Musician's Friend
Features:
This guitar has a beautiful natural finish with gold hardware and is great for playing jazz. The volume controls aren't that great and pretty much have to be all the way up or down, but for the money this guitar is great. It's a really fat guitar and at first I thought I was going to have some difficulty playing it because I'm a small frame person. But to my surprise it has become my favorite guitar to play. To get the full mellow tone jazz I bought some Gibson Stainless Steel Flatwound Strings (12-54 gauge) and they were the icing on the cake. So if you don't have a lot of money to spend but really want to play a full size mellow-toned jazz guitar, then I highly suggest this one.
Playability:
The action on this guitar is good, but to play the high notes without buzzing you have to set it pretty high. At first I struggled to get used to it, but once I did there was no turning back.
Sound Quality:
This guitar has a very full mellow sound. It is ideal for smooth jazz, old school jazz and rhythm.
Durability:
The hardware seems to be holding up good and the guitar stays in tune for long periods of time.
