I have used RCA and Electro Voice ribbons in the past. They have long been out of production and the ones that are still around bring in big bucks. Whjen I saw that NADY was going to produce one for less than $500.00 I started saving up for one, just to keep my older ribbons safe under non controlled conditions.

Pictures pending
Model Year: 2004
Price: $250.00 (new)
Where Obtained: eBay
Large folded ribbon microphone
figure of eight pickup pattern
integral mic mount
Sound Quality:
Ribbon mics were first used in the 20's and 30's for radio broadcasting and recording. The have a characteristic smooth frequency response that is warm and natural, and naturally enhances the human voice. These are the mics that gave the crooner records their velvity smooth vocals.
Ease of Use:
Plug and go, there are no switchs or other adjustemnts.
Ribbon mics by their vvery nature are extremely fragile instruments. Vlowing into the mic directly (as if to test the mic) is enough to damage the fragile ribbon element. I cannot emphasise this enough.
In addition most ribbon mics will be damaged if you plug them into an imput the the phantom power on.
This is no toy and must be handled with extreme care.
