I use Audacity as my audio editing software. When I do collabs with Guitarnoise forum members, this program works great. Just put the backing track in and record on a second track. Works magic.

Great free audio editing tool. My school has Adobe's suite and honestly this program does the job just as good, and it costs absolutly nothing...
It took me a day to get used to all the features of Audacity. Thats it.
It's the best for the price and experience.

I feel it's the best audio recording and editing software you can get for free. I have used this software quite a bit and it has always given me the sounds I need!
Little bit of a learning curve. Alittle bit easier to use than some such as Cakewalk or n-Track.
Seems very stable. Since this is an open-source project, the development team is open to receiving feedback from users for bug-fixing and future feature requests.
