Overall Rating:
I'm a gear a holic.I could open a store with all the gear I have. This amp covers a wide range of tones much better than any of the modeling amps, even though it is a solid state amp.It doesn't pretend to copy other sounds, nor should it.Just plug and go.
Model Year: 1978
Price: $150.00
Where Obtained: Music-Go-Round
Features:
2 channel fooswithable.One word-LOUD.It's a solid state with 2 12" speakers.Channel one has gain,treble and bass controls.Channel 2 has gain,treble,mid,bass and reverb for both channels.
Sound Quality:
I used the amp on 3 gigs this past week.Classic rock, blues rock and country cover songs. This amp would be great for funk also. It's not a tube amp,so that warmth is not quite there, but with the gain and the power this amp has,it is a very usable amp.I have not had the volume past 2 and no noise what so ever. The gain can be a monster, good for modern heavy rock. The cleans you get with this amp is great for country and country rock.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use amp.You can get alot of tones by messing with the mid and bass controls used in conjunction with the gains.
Durability:
This amp is almost 30 years old and is still rocking hard.It doesn't look like it has ever been messed with.I doubt if I'll ever have a problem with it.Built very sturdy.I'll use this amp for some time at the small clubs we gig at,not because of loudness because this amp is very loud, but because it's much easier than lugging around a half stack to 50-100 seat clubs where we don't have much room.
