I looked at and played the other tele models. This one had better tone than 2 single coils, and not as twangy. 5 way switch with a humbucker neck pickup was a good setup and sound for me. Fav aspect...not the standard tele. This particular model is no longer being manufactured, and was only offered for 2 years? i believe, so it may become a rareity.
Model Year: 2002
Price: $979.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Musicians Friend
Features:
US Made, Rosewood Fretboard on a maple neck, Alder Body, 22 Jumbo Nickel frets. Master Volume, Master Tone, 5 way pickup switch. Fender Hotrod Splitcoil Humbucker for the neck. American Hot Singlecoil for the bridge. passive electronics. Switch controls are 1. Humbucker 2. single neck coil from humbucker 3.Humbucker and Bridge single coil 4.neck single coil&bridge single coil 5. Bridge single coil.. Solid Black Finish, Chrome Hardware, String thru body, Fender tuners, straplocks, fender strap, locking hardshell case
Playability:
Good low fast action comes stock setup, I prefer slightly higher action with heavier strings, was easy to setup. Neck is much faster (compared to my Les Paul Custom) great playable guitar
Sound Quality:
Used along with a Fender Twin 100 watt, A Fender Pro 185, Hughes and Kettner Tube Factor, Digitech RP2000. Works well for Jazz/Rock/Fusion/Country/Blues/Jam very versatile for almost every style. Front pickup is warm and full in humbucker mode, single coil is tele twangy. Rear pickup is Crunchy Twangy. good balance and switching choices between the 2 pickups. Single coils are noisy around power sources, TVs computers etc.. great performance on stage and studio
Durability:
Very reliable,no adjustments needed after 1yr of gigging. All chrome is still perfect after 1yr. input jack is noiseless still. pickup switch is still quiet as well.
