FastTrack Guitar 1

by Blake Neely

(1997) Hal Leonard #0-7935-7399-8

Description Bare bone basics learning each string one lesson at a time. It advances you at a nice pace and the writing is light and humorous. Great for absolute beginners.

Great book for beginners and junior high school class guitar where motivation could be an issue. Short life with private instruction.

I noticed FastTrack #2 was reviewed but no mention of #1. It is probably slightly better than Ernie Ball as it has more songs to practice. This book helped me a lot to advance and I refer to it often. The included CD really helped to get a grip on how the tunes sound. I would have preferred if the book would have went a little more in depth about chords and the introduction of power chords may be irrelevant when learning an acoustic. Overall and excellent resource for beginners.
