Volume, Filter and Distortion. The filter sweeps through the highs and low.
Great rock distortion that is really clean like Keith Scott who is Bryan Adams guitar player. Think Strat, Rat, Marshall - sweet.
It's good but I don't care for the placement of the in and out jacks. I would have liked them to be on the side for easier daisy chaining.
I don't know what the difference is between a Rat and a Rat 2, but I don't care, this pedal gets the job done. you can go from a bluesy fuzz, to a pretty heavy distortion. (but not VERY heavy, like metallica heavy).
Either way, every guitarist should have a Rat in there collection.

Your basic distortion pedal. Has 3 knobs: distortion, filter, and volume. The filter is kinda like a compressor and a tone knob all in one (kinda wierd) but very cool.
I run this thing from my peavy guitar to my behringer amp and it sounds great. I play mostly metal, and this is a distortion pedal that can give you that heavy sound, SORT OF. The best way I can describe this pedal when the distortion is all the way up, is a heavier sounding ACDC. If you want a pedal that gives you "Metallica" type distortion, ya might wanna try something else.
other than that, this pedal is absolutely awesome!! It really does it's job well.
and one more thing. This pedal is great for rythm guitar, but when it comes to leads, it's only so-so...could be better.
...c'mon, three knobs man...
I've only had it a few days, but it's made out of steel. Seems pretty durable to me.
