I chose this one because it's one of the favored guitars of James Hetfield, and he's my idol. I chose this because i was interested in sound and the playing style of it. If I lost this or it was stolen I would definetly buy this guitar again. I just want to say that this guitar looks really good if you're playing it on stage, especially for rhythm guitarists, rhythm guitarist/singers. It could be used for lead too I've been told that Eddie Van Halen has used an explorer for lead. If you decided to try this out I think you could have a lot of fun with it.

This guitar has such great sound it gives me just the right crunch and low tone for playing good metal like Metallica. The neck is made of Mahogony which i like because it's real easy to slide on and it's really comfortable. This guitar looks best being played low(like down at the waist or below the waist) so if you're not comfortable playing like that then this is not your kind of guitar.
I use this guitar with a 15 watt peavey amp, it would sound a lot better on a bigger and better quality amp. My current amp doesn't have any effects and I haven't really got a chance to mess around with any effects except for a wah-wah pedal. I generally play Metallica on this guitar and it sounds really great especially when i'm jammin with friends. This guitar was made to look evil and play heavy so if you mostly listen to classic music rather than metal than you might not prefer this guitar. It has a real dark tone and it's better than any other guitar in sound that I have played.
It's great for recording and awesome for stage, I enjoy playing it on stage it's really fun.
The only problem you may have playing this guitar would be standing up. It's a little top heavy so the head stock could start to dip down while you're playing but you'll have no problem with it once you get used to holding it up. I think this is the hardest guitar to play while standing up, it's a good challenge though:) This guitar has some negatives like the headstock dipping down while you're holding it, but i gave this a five in durability because I just love the challenge. I have had straps fall off while i've been playing it but i've also had straps fall of on other ones i've played too.
