Anyone familiar with Opeth knows damn well the incredible brilliance of this band. Now onto the actual description:
Compared to their previous releases, it's just as powerful! However
, there are no heavy guitars, no growling vocals, no fast chops, no brutal distortion...Whatsoever!
This is a complete departure from their last 6 releases.
Yet, it really doesn't suprise me that Opeth chose this route. Seems like something this band would have done anyway. And I might also add that, the actual music on this album is so moving, and takes the listener to another realm. The melodies are so lush, so powerful, so soothing. The vocals are smooth, calming, meloncholy, dark, and also very powerful.
I actually rate this album as one of their absolute best. This band is not afraid of change, and with their talent, they have absolutely no reason to be afraid of change. They do it so well! Opeth just keeps getting better & better with every new release.
