I have looked at Martin's, Taylor's, Gibson's, Takamine's, Guild's, Yamaha's--you name it. This guitar is simply the best sounding 12-string I have ever picked up. It might be that the "sound I'm looking for" is an Ovation sound. It could be that this is just what a 12-string should sound like. If you have never played an Ovation Custom Legend 12-String, you need to try one out and you will never want to put it down!!!

This is a 100% USA-made guitar. Recently, Ovation moved construction of all of their Custom Legends to the Custom Shop, which results in a 90 wait for delivery. I purchased this as a "blemished" model, but I believe it was only sold as such because someone bought it initially and sent it back. I have found no defects whatsoever.
The Body is the Medium-depth Ovation Lyrachord bowl. It is sturdy and helps produce great tone and volume. The top is AAA Spruce with a special bracing pattern that enhances the richness of the tone, while maintaining great strength.
The Neck is a 5-piece Mahogany/Maple laminate with a "soft-V" contour to reduce hand fatigue. The Fingerboard is solid bound Ebony. There are Abalone inlays on the fingerboard. The fretboard meets the body at the 14th fret with a single cutaway for access down to the 21st fret. The frets are medium jumbo which provide great playability.
The pre-amp on this model is the Ovation OP-50, which includes an onboard chromatic tuner, adjustable notch filter and 3-band EQ. Out put is provided by both a 1/4" jack and an XLR jack.
The Bridge is solid ebony with the usual Ovation string-through construction, eliminating the need for bridge pins. The transducer pickup is mounted in the saddle.
This guitar comes in a natural finish or in black. I have the black and it is a beauty!
It comes with gold-plated tuners with Pearloid buttons.
This is a VERY playable guitar. Action is very low and the neck is smooth and fast. I have found now buzzing spots along the neck. This is the easiest playing 12-string I have found! I have found no flaws inthe construction of this guitar. The finish is impeccable and the fit is noteworthy.
All I can say is this: This guitar has the richest sound of any twelve string I have ever played. It has great volume without being "boomy". It is wonderfully bright without being "tinny". The sound is even across all teh strings and at all the frets. Sustain is wonderful for an acoustic.
The first thing I noticed when picking up this guitar was it's balance. It just seemed to carry well. Next, I noticed how sturdy it felt. Instead of feeling like several pieces of wood put together, it felt like I was picking up one piece of wood. The neck is solid as a rock and the Lyrachord Bowl provides unbelievable strength to the entire body.
