I wasn't really looking for anything when I picked up this piece... it was definatly an impulse buy. I looked at it previously when it was $300. When they dropped the price to less than half, I had to own it.
If it were stolen, I would weap and lament. I would write sad songs and make a million dollars. Then I would commision Yamaha to make me 12... and then I would be happy again.

This pre-amp in a stomp box has 4 stompable switches that will allow the player to change patches, enter a tap tempo for the delay... or access the tuner.
There are a host of twisty knobs on the front... amp selection, gain, master volume, 3 band eq and presence.
There are also smaller buttons for the compressor, effects, delays and reverbs - with a speaker sim to boot.
This is AC powered, can work in stereo and has no tubes...
I use this with my Godin LP, Fender Strat, acoustic and bass guitar.
When I play my guitars, I use it with a Tech 21 amplifier.
When I use it with my bass, I use the PA.
This is well suited for most rock, jazz, soul... whatever you like with the exception of some types of metal.
This has a very tube like warmth to it, and the models are actually very accurate. They do not label the models, they simply say Lead, Drive, Clean. There are two flavors of each. I have been able to get every sound that I've wanted using this.
Ease of Use:
The unit is programmable, but I still have to reference the manual to do some of the deap editing - and there are other aspects that I have yet to figure out - for example, assigning the expression pedal...
The expression pedal can be set up for wah, volume, gain... about 8 different things. You can also have multiple expression pedals set up... not intuitive at all.
However, if you simply want to create and amp model, you can.
Bear in mind... this is not an effects box per se. It is a guitar preamp - with effects.
This is my favorite pedal because it's made of heavy metal... it weighs a lot and it's sturdy... I feel like it could survive being run over by a car...
All in all a great buy,the list on this baby is 299,musicians freind sells for 249,i got it on sale ay guitar center for 139,thats the real reason i took a chance on this peddle,

With knobs reminicent of my old vox amp it was easy to manuvre around this processor, yamaha is getting good at simulating tube sound in a solid state processor,2 out puts for cool stereo effects like panning etc,has all the usuals, chorus flange phase,delay,reverb,16 amp simulators
I use a eppi les paul, and run 1 output to my vox amp,and the other right to the mixer, sounds better through my amp but sound great staight to the board too, effects are good quality and easy to acess for knob twiddling, quiet operation, well suited for most any style but really shine in classic rock overdrive and heavy rock,
This is this peddles best feature,it is so easy to customize patches and store them,i play live in a bar cover band alot and it is the best one i ever used,
It has a metal cover ,feels real strong and sturdy but havent had it long enough to say how durable it will be
