I looked at Gibson SG's, Schecters, Ernie Ball (almost) but for the price, playability and looks I went with the 351. I would definitely buy another one if this guitar were lost. At first I liked the looks of the guitar now I like the tone and playability of it
Model Year: 2002
Price: $363.00 (new)
Where Obtained: MARS
Features:
Dont know where this bad boy was made but it's made well. It has 22 x-jumbo frets and 6 strings. One volume one tone knob and a 3-way selector switch.
Playability:
This guitar plays like a dream. The set neck allows easy access to the lower frets and although I have heard complaints about the EX-351 being neck heavy, I have no problems with it at all. Compared to my fender it has better sustain, intonation and feel to the fretboard. The only thing that could be considered a problem is the finish on the back of the neck can be sticky at times, compared to a shaved neck.
Sound Quality:
I play this guitar through a Peavy Bandit 112 and the only sounds that come out are of heavy metal. I did experiment playing some blues type music and found that it could do it justice also with the right amp setting. The sound is so different than what you get from a Fender. The Fender sounds very Tinny in comparison. The 351 has a full sound that blows away any thing I have heard. I would not change a thing on this guitar right now.
Durability:
I have only had the guitar for a few days, but it seems rugged and stays in tune very well.
