I picked this up on cassette shortly after I graduated from high school...I listened to it once and it freaked me out so bad I put it away for about 10 years. The performances on this album/cd are profound, especially considering what was going on musically at the time. The man was downright scary. In league with the devil? I couldn't say. But the man could play like hell.

This recording has been superseded by Johnson's complete works, but for listeners wanting to get a taste of the Devil's work, this is still a great CD. Classics such as Cross Road Blues, I believe I'll Dust My Broom, Come On In My Kitchen will have your jaw dropping in wonder at how he played some of those licks. Undoubtedly Johnson makes great use of alternation, but at other times he is either performing Aural Illusions, or he is in league with ol' Lucifer himself...........
