The only gripe I have is the width. They are shorter from side to side by about an 1/8 of an inch than most other humbuckers.

I have them installed in my Hondo II. Hand crafted, and well done. Their customer support consists of Becky Lawrence, and she is very pleasant to speak with. Quite knowledgeable and curteous.
I bought one for each position in the guitar, and was very happy with the tonal range I got from them, especially after installing
4 push/pull pots and a two way switch (something I had wanted to do for some time now).
I can only give an average here, as I have had them for only one year. I haven't had enough time with them to determine yet. Durabilty tests require time...
I have used stock Gibsons,EMG 81[which also is great],a Rio Grande mud[pretty hot] and other stock pickups and the Bill Lawrence is by far the best.

In the treble position of my back up Gibson Les Paul it gives a great bite and sustains well.I have one in my main Les Paul,a '74 Deluxe that I put in in 1979 and it still sings with angelic tone.A dual blade humbucker, this pickup replaces stock humbucker pickups.
It sounds awesome with all my amps,a mid 80's Marshall JCM 800,mid 90's Roland Bluescube, and my new Behringer GX 212.It's a rocker no doubt about it.It's totally quiet,no hum.The L-500 is the best humbucker I've ever heard.
I have an original L-500 in my Les Paul Deluxe that has been going strong since 1979.The new pickup looks to last also,a quality pickup.
