This recording is unusual - as Larry Carlton is more commonly found playing electric guitar. Almost all of the songs here have been written by him. While there are some fairly lively compositions on this album, the overall mood is introspective and calming. In using an acoustic for this album, rather than his electric, Larry's style here relies on more notes, slides, and techniques to create and maintain the sustain and melodic soloing style that is his trademark. If you were on a desert island, and could only have a dozen albums - this might be a good one to pick! :^)

A beautiful album. My favorites tracks: "Smiles and Smiles To Go" and "High Steppin'", but all of them are very good compositions.
