In case you missed it, I love this guitar! If you make a few mods to it, its a PRS killer for a 3rd the price after the mods! For the price, I can't see anyway to improve this guitar other than the ones i've made.
Model Year: 2001
Price: $749.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Megamusic, Naples FL
Features:
This is an alder body with a 22 fret rosewood neckwith a see-thru green flame top with creme binding, a Wilkinson tremolo, and Grover tuners(chrome)
Playability:
I bought this guitar because it was beautiful, and I needed a guitar! I had 2 Stratocasters that died on me during a show. A friend brought me his PRS custom 22 to finish the night with and I bought this the next day. I had the PRS the second night but I only used it for one song! This played better IMHO! I can't find any flaws in it, but I hear the flame is printed onto the wood?
Sound Quality:
I play through a Line 6 POD into a power amp, split into two monitors for the stage and direct into the board for house sound. I love this guitar, but I found the pickups a bit shrill and muddy for me so I replaced them with Seymour Duncans (JB bridge and Jazz in neck). I had problems with the input and the 3 way switch (typical Korean parts) and replaced all the electronics with switchcraft parts. I play lead in a rock, alternative band and this thing screams, now that the apropriate mods have been made!!
Durability:
This guitar is rock solid, I've been playing it for over a year with no problems since the mods where made, but let me point out, I intended moding this guitar when I bought it! Typical of Korean guitars the switches and inputs don't seem to hold up but they are cheap to replace! I like a low action and I've had it since day one! I set intonation with every string change anyway!
