Rating:
I think this guitar is more than worth it's money. I still can't believe the quality considering. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, whether you're looking for a cheap guitar, a cool looking guitar or a good quality back.
Model Year: 2001
Price: $219 Canadian (new)
Where Obtained: Steve's Music Store, Toronto
Features:
Made In Indonesia. I think Alder Body. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard. 22Jumbo frets. 6 strings. 2 volumes, 1 tone, 3 way pickup switching, two passive humbuckers. Stock Hamer pickups. opaque Lacquer finish. shaped like a Gibson Explorer. Stop tailpiece/tune-o-matic. 24.75" scale length. Non locking Sperzel tuners
Playability:
I don't know how different (as compared to strats) the action is supposed to be with a tune-o-matic, but I like it. The neck is fantastic, it's thin and fast. Absolute perfect balance. No flaws at all. it's much more than well worth the money. But, the strap butttons are a tad big, and it's hard to find a strap that will fit over them.
Sound Quality:
I use it with a Zoom 505 and a Fender HOT amp, and it sounds very good. I play mainly heavy metal, but also a little blues, and it sounds good for both. I am considering upgrading the pickups, although they are surprisingly good considering this is a "value line" guitar. I haven't played it on stage yet, but I'm sure it will do just fine!
Durability:
I've had it for several days and no problems yet. I had to adjust the truss rod when I replaced the factory strings, and now it sounds just perfect. no fret buzz or anything.
