The guitar is visually striking, the woods he uses are beautiful. The quartersawn neck is a joy to play. Jimmy is a master craftsman and a great guy. He also plays a nice 7 string style.
Model Year: 1999
Price: $4100.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Foster Guitars
Features:
Jimmy Foster hand crafts these instruments in Louisiana. The guitar is a 22 fret seven string guitar. It is tuned in the Van Eps style with the low string to "A". The guitar has a very thin neck.
Playability:
Sweet. Nice low action. I play fingerstyle and it is very responsive. The thin neck took awhile to adjust to, but now, any other guitar is work!
Sound Quality:
Sounds like a jazz axe or a metal axe and all the spectrum in between - depending on strings and playing style. The Piezo adds a nice acoustic nuance.
Durability:
Reliable, truss rod and intonation are excellent
