I looked at things like a martin or a maton and other top end models. cost was a major factor in my purchase so i chose the washburn. the only thing i changed was the strings. the standard strings i found too harsh on the fingers and the tone wasnt quite right till i put a set of martin sp+ light gauge strings on it. now it has what i want.if i t was lsot or stolen i would most definatley get another one.
Model Year: 2003
Where Obtained: on line guitar store in australia
Features:
This is the usual washburn quality d10 model guitar. so i wont linger on the what its made of stuff.
Playability:
I thought the action was a bit high, but i got the strings changed for some martin sp+ strings and what a difrence it made. it compares to the more expensive models vey well. the neck is thin and smooth ijust cant fault this guitar.
Sound Quality:
I dont use any effects or amps with this guitar. the sound is full rich and deep. i have started to play a lot more detuned acoustic stuff and this model has the right tone for this type of playing.
Durability:
It is ready for on stage playing and i have not had to adjust anything. during the long hot summer in australia this instrument hasnt lost its tune at all. it is just a brilliant guitar

I understand this Guitar was awarded "Best Guitar for under $500". I am not in the least surprised. I regularly go to stores to play other acoustics all the way up to the $2000 Gibsons. I have to get to $500-$700 range before I would even consider trading. This Guitar is an absolute gem for it's price.
Model Year: 2001
Price: $250.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Mars Music
Features:
Dreadnought, solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, Nato neck, Sonokelin fingerboard, 20 frets, comes in natural finish or black (I have the black).
Playability:
The action was originally set a little low (had some buzzing problems), but after a slight adjustment it plays REALLY well. The fret wires can be a little rough on the edge of the neck, but overall these are just nit-picking items on the good quality of this Guitar.
Sound Quality:
This guitar excels in this area. The sound quality is superior for the price range. It has a full Bass and mid ideal for the beginning Rythm Guitarist.
Durability:
Very durable guitar, keeps tune for long periods, climate change has little effect.

D10S The Worlds Best Selling Acoustic Guitar earned the distinction with superior craftsmanship, tone and value. Voted Number 1 by Acoustic Guitar magazine as the best guitar under $500. The Romance of the Southwestern United States inspired this beautiful acoustic collection. These guitars deserve to share in that rich heritage.

This is the result of the D-10's playability, its use of fine solid tonewoods and its fine craftsmanship.
